Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of English hosted an awards ceremony and capstone presentations on Dec. 5 to celebrate student achievements. The event recognized five scholarship recipients, 39 inductees into the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and featured five capstone presentations. Among the honorees were Shannon Carbonell of Ellington, a sophomore who majors in secondary education, and Jessica Curtis of Somers, a senior who majors in English.

  • Hofstra University's Class of 2024 Physician Assistant (PA) Studies students, including Aadhya Lal of Ellington, celebrated the culmination of their rigorous academic journey at the annual White Coat Ceremony on Dec. 18. The event, held at the Adams Playhouse, marked their transition from PA students to healthcare professionals. The students proudly donned their white coats, symbolizing their commitment to patient care.

Lasell University, Newton MA

  • Gianna Chiarenza of Ellington and Julian Banas of Somers were named to Lasell University's fall 2024 Dean's List. To be named to the Dean's List, Lasell students must complete at least 12 credits as a full-time student and achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

  • Jami Nadeau of Somers, a member of the class of 2026 majoring in civil engineering at WPI, was a member of a student team that recently completed a professional-level research-driven project titled Social Impact Programs & Organizations in Venice. Known as the Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP), this project is a core part of the innovative undergraduate experience at WPI. Centered around project-based learning, this hands-on approach offers students opportunities to help develop thoughtful solutions to open-ended problems. These real-world problems affect the quality of life for people in the communities where students work, giving students a chance to make a difference in the world before they graduate.
