ELLINGTON, CT — A dog whose breed has become the symbol of the state as the mascot of the University of Connecticut has been rescued from a north central Connecticut state forest.

The male husky is now in the care of the Ellington Animal Control Division.

The dog was located by a hiker in the woods, animal control officers said over the weekend. He was wearing a black harness but had no tags and no Microchip.
