SOMERS, CT — A late-afternoon crash involving a motorcycle Sunday utilized the services of the LifeStar medical helicopter, according to state police.

The crash occurred around 5:24 p.m. when a 36-year-old man from Enfield was turning onto Root Road in Somers and lost control of his 2018 Harley-Davidson FLHXS. The operator, who was not wearing a helmet, was choppered to Hartford Hospital with head injuries, according to a state police report.

An infraction was issued to the operator for failure to maintain proper lane and operating without minimum insurance, police said.
