More College Milestones Achieved By Students From Ellington And Somers

Adelphi University, Garden City NY

• Casey Greenbaum of Ellington was among the undergraduate and graduate students recently awarded degrees at Adelphi University, including those who completed degree requirements.
  Greenbaum earned a Bachelor of Arts. Adelphi held its 128th commencement ceremonies to recognize graduates on May 21 at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

American International College, Springfield MA

• American International College (AIC) held its 139th commencement ceremony on May 11 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, celebrating more than 600 graduates in the Class of 2024. Marissa Long of Somers received a Bachelor of Science degree in the health science program. Sarah Thiel of Somers received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in the nursing program. Clarissa Welti of Ellington received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in the nursing program. Lauren Soriano of Somers received a Master of Science in Nursing degree in the family nurse practitioner program.
• AIC is proud to announce 470 students have earned a place on the Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester, attaining GPAs ranging from 3.3 to 4.0. Local honorees were Thomas Lafayette of Somers, majoring in general business; Mallory Murdza of Somers, majoring in nursing; Concetta Shewokis of Somers, majoring in nursing; Alyssa Stetson of Ellington, majoring in nursing; Sarah Thiel of Somers, majoring in nursing; and Clarissa Welti of Ellington, majoring in nursing.

Bryant University, Smithfield RI

• Bryant University is pleased to recognize a half-dozen local students who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and achievement and have been named to the spring 2024 Deans' List. They are Allison Carra, Robin Gaskell and Jack Gebo, all of Somers, and Ellington residents Andrew Heyman, John Rood and Vincent Sivo. To earn a place on the Deans' List, students must have a GPA of 3.4 or better for at least 12 semester hours of work.

Champlain College, Burlington VT

• Anna Olender of Ellington was named to the Champlain College President's List for the spring 2024 semester. Students on the President's List have achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or higher during the semester. Olender is majoring in game art.
• Three Ellington residents were named to the Champlain College Dean's List for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in the spring 2024 semester. They are Jeffrey Gordon, majoring in broadcast media production; Donovan Shea, majoring in law; and Zachary Webber, majoring in game sound design.

College of Charleston, Charleston SC

• Samantha Morrow of Ellington was named to the College of Charleston spring 2024 Dean's List. Morrow is majoring in communication. To qualify for the Dean's List (Distinguished), students must earn a GPA of 3.500 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Curry College, Milton MA

• Curry College congratulates William Karszes of Somers, who was named to the Sspring 2024 Dean's List.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester, in which more than 1,200 students were recognized for maintaining high GPAs.
  Among the students were Shannon Carbonell, Brendan Burke, Nicholas Dannenfelser, Caroline Gray, McKayla Lucey, Noah Madore, Kush Patel, Isabella Piazza, David Pierce, Andrew Raymond, Margaret Ritchie, Luke Sirois and Kalagena Sullivan, all of Ellington, plus Somers residents Keira Clark, Jessica Curtis, Grace Majowicz and Kaycha Perez. To qualify for Dean's List, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in letter-graded courses with an average GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester.

Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA

• Ankit Roy of Ellington earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for spring 2024 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY

• Katherine Adams of Ellington excelled during the spring 2024 semester at Hofstra, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the Dean's List. Her major is music business.

State University of New York, Cortland NY

• Ryan Wheeler of Ellington was among the 2,434 SUNY Cortland students recognized for academic excellence on the university's Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester. Wheeler is studying archaeology. The Dean's List is the highest ranking for undergraduate students in their respective academic areas of the university. Students must earn a minimum 3.3 grade point average for the semester to make the list.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

• Ryan Rogers of Somers and Benjamin Lipman of Ellington were among more than 1,000 students who earned spots on the Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester.

University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa AL

• Peyton Kubas and Ava Powell, both of Ellington, were among 13,103 students named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 or above for the spring 2024 semester.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• The University of Hartford is pleased to announce that 964 students received graduate and undergraduate degrees as part of the class of 2024. Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• A total of 2,226 undergraduate students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) achieved the criteria required for the university's spring 2024 Dean's List. Included on the list were Ellington residents Samantha Curtis, Ryan Dieterle and Griffin St. Pierre, as well as Nicholas Calcasola and Jami Nadeau, both of Somers. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
