SOMERS, CT — State police are seeking the driver of a van which struck a motorcycle in the center of Somers, dragging the operator about 75 feet, before fleeing the scene Sunday night.

Around 9:41 p.m., a Kawasaki EX650 being driven by a 24-year-old man from West Springfield was traveling eastbound on Main Street, or Route 190, approaching the intersection with South Road (Route 83). A westbound van on Main Street attempted to take a left turn onto South Road, cutting off the motorcycle and causing the accident, according to a state police report.

The motorcycle operator was dragged by the van onto South Road, and the van driver left the scene without stopping. The motorcycle operator was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford for evaluation of his injuries, and the Kawasaki was towed from the scene, state police said.
