Report Released On SUV Crashing Into Ellington Home

State police have released a report on a crash that led to an SUV plowing into an Ellington home.

ELLINGTON, CT — State police Monday released a report on last week's accident involving a car that crashed into a home on Windsorville Road. It shows that the homeowner was present when the sport utility vehicle went into the living room but escaped injury.

The crash took place at 6:26 a.m. on March 9.

According to a crash report, a 2022 Hyundai Sante Fe driven by a 61-year-old Vernon man was traveling west on Windsorville Road in Ellington. The driver failed to negotiate a sharp left-hand curve marked with signs and warning lights and veered into a stop sign at the intersection with Pinney Road, then went through a small bush and plowed into the the residence located at 241 Windsorville Road, according to the report.

The SUV sustained heavy damage; especially to the front end.

Not only was the first floor of the vintage farmhouse heavily damaged, but the basement was effected as well, the repot indicates.

The homeowner and only occupant of the residence was not injured in the collision, according to the crash report.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported by Ellington Ambulance to Manchester Memorial Hospital, state police said.

The SUV was removed from the residence and towed from the scene. No charges had been filed as of Monday.
