Somers Elementary School Selected For Prestigious Statewide Honor
The Connecticut Association of Schools has chosen Somers Elementary School as its statewide Elementary School of the Year.

SOMERS, CT — The Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) has selected Somers Elementary School as its Connecticut Elementary School of the Year, Principal Melissa Mucci announced Thursday.
The nomination process began in January, and started with Mucci outlining the school indicators to those of CAS for a highly-effective school. Teachers and staff member worked with the administration to align their practices before submitting their application.
Out of more than 200 schools, Somers was selected as one of two semifinalists. Members of CAS conducted a site visit earlier this week, touring the facility and grounds and meeting with parent, student and central office panels. They concluded their visit by meeting with Mucci and assistant principal Michael McDonnell.
