Somers Firefighters Stop New Year’s Day Blaze
Firefighters were called to a home on Watchaug Road Thursday morning and quickly contained the fire.
SOMERS, CT — Firefighters responded to a structure fire on New Year’s Day at a home on Watchaug Road and were able to keep the damage minimal, officials said.
According to the Somers Fire Department, crews were called around 7:40 a.m. to 392 Watchaug Road, along with mutual aid from Hazardville, Shaker Pines, and East Longmeadow.
When crews arrived, they found a small fire on the outside of the building that was starting to move inside. Firefighters quickly put out the fire and stopped it from spreading beyond the exterior.

Crews were on scene for about an hour. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
