Somers Kindergartener Collects Jackets For Domestic Violence Shelters
Over 100 new jackets were donated during a drive Saturday by Juliet Kiner of Somers and her parents.

SOMERS, CT — Kindergarten student Juliet Kiner and her parents conducted a very successful jacket drive at their home Saturday, where over 100 new jackets were donated. The jackets will be donated to the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV), and will then be distributed to domestic violence shelters throughout the state.
Her parents, Gina and David Kiner, said, "We try our best to instill in our daughters the importance of giving back to our community, and Juliet wanted to help other children who may not have warm coats this winter. Juliet was instrumental with the entire process and was so proud and excited with every new jacket that was donated to her cause."
CCADV Executive Director Meghan Scanlon said, "CCADV and our 18 member organizations are so grateful for and humbled by Juliet’s contribution to the children we serve across Connecticut. Small acts of kindness, like Juliet's, have a big impact and make kids experiencing trauma feel loved, and at the end of the day we all deserve to feel safe and loved in our families and our homes. She has done that, and we cannot thank her enough."
