SOMERS, CT — A 41-year-old Somers man is accused of inappropriate conduct at a store in Somers and has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault as a result, state police said.

John Tshummi was served a warrant Sunday, records show. In the warrant, the charge references sexual contact without consent.

The victim in the case is a 16-year-old girl who works as a staff member at a local store, according to a warrant. She was at work on Oct. 29, when, according to her testimony in a warrant, a man came in and asked where a particular item might be located.

According to a warrant, the girl offered directions toward the item but the man asked her to show him. After they went to where the item was located, the man ran his hand down the girl's back and touched her buttocks end, according to testimony outlined in a warrant.

Surveillance video was not conclusive because of the camera angle, but the man was eventually identified as Tschummi, according to a warrant.
