Basketball Hall Of Fame Postpones Induction Ceremonies Due To Olympics
The annual induction festivities will now take place in October rather than August, according to Hall of Fame officials.

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Vince Carter, Dick Barnett, Chauncey Billups and the other members of the Class of 2024 of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will have to wait just a bit longer before they are immortalized in the game's shrine.
The 13 inductees had been scheduled to be feted during Enshrinement Weekend ceremonies Aug. 16-17. However, numerous requests to change the dates, particularly in light of the Summer Olympic Games concluding earlier that week in Paris, France, have prompted Hall officials to accommodate those requests. Festivities will now take place Oct. 12-13.
Hall of Fame president/CEO John Doleva said in a written statement, "The Hall of Fame appreciates the input from friends across the basketball community and the recommendations of our production partners regarding a schedule adjustment for our enshrinement ceremonies. We understand the importance of the burgeoning Olympic basketball events to our broader constituencies and regret any inconvenience caused by the change. This one-time move to October assures that we are best positioned to once again create a great experience for our guests and deliver viewers a first-class presentation to celebrate our esteemed class."
