Enfield Business Closes After Nearly 50 Years, Owner Says

The business shut down on November 26th, citing rising overhead costs, according to a notice filed with the state labor department.

ENFIELD, CT — An auto body repair and car restoration shop in Enfield has closed after nearly five decades in business, according to the state's labor department.

Connecticut Custom Car, located on Route 5 at 744 Enfield Street, closed on November 26th, according to a letter submitted to the Connecticut Department of Labor by its owner, Walter Wosko III.

In a letter posted on the state Department of Labor’s online WARN Act portal, Wosko said he was forced to shut down the shop because rising overhead costs had outpaced revenue.

Five employees were laid off as a result of the closure, according to the notice.

According to the company’s website, Connecticut Custom Car was founded in 1976 by Walt Wosko II and his wife, Dianne.
