Enfield Rotary Club Names 2016 Paul Harris Fellow Recipients

Pamela Brown, Kevin Mayo, and Jan Nirenberg were awarded the highest Rotary honor.

ENFIELD, CT (May 19, 2016) – The Enfield Rotary Club has named Pamela Brown, Kevin Mayo and Jan Nirenberg as this year’s Paul Harris Fellow recipients. The award is named for Paul Harris, founder of Rotary International and honors those who serve the community. The highest Rotary honor awarded to an individual.

Kevin Mayo is an Enfield resident, insurance agent/producer of Commercial Lines Business for the Habermann Insurance Group in West Springfield/Westfield and has been a Rotarian since 2009. Kevin is past president of Enfield Rotary, instituted Rotary After Five and this year was Chairperson of the Club’s Annual Cinco K Mayo Road Race.

Pam Brown recently retired after 11 years as the Town of Enfield Social Service Director. Establishing the Magic Carpet Bus Transportation was among Pam’s many accomplishments during her tenure in Enfield. Pam’s main objective was to support Enfield families, especially the youth. She worked diligently to create strong, healthy families and was a champion for suicide and substance-abuse prevention.

Jan Nirenberg, a member of the north central Connecticut community for many years is involved in a variety of organizations that involve children’s education and health. She and her husband, the late Charles Nirenberg, were instrumental and supportive of numerous non-profit initiatives including Asnuntuck Community College Foundation, the Nirenberg Center for Woman & Infants at Johnson Memorial Hospital and a continuing benefactor of the Rotary Scholarship Foundation.

A donation in the amount of $1,000 is made by the local club or an individual to the Rotary Foundation in the name of each Paul Harris Fellow. These funds help support the Foundation’s educational and humanitarian programs around the world.

Family and friends of this year’s recipients are invited and encouraged to attend the Foundation and Awards Dinner banquet on Friday, June 10, at the Holiday Inn in Enfield. A social hour begins at 6:00 p.m.; dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $30.00 per person.
