New Fried Chicken Joint To Open At Site Of Former Pizzeria At Busy Enfield Intersection
A banner has been put up declaring the imminent arrival of Royal Fried Chicken & Pizza.

ENFIELD, CT — A new fried chicken joint is preparing to debut in Enfield, at the longtime site of a small neighborhood pizza shop.
Angelo's Pizza, which has shared a building with Sam's Food Stores at the corner of Brainard and Washington roads for the last 13 years, has closed its doors. A hand-lettered sign in the window merely states, "Closed," while a banner placed over the Angelo's sign reads, "Royal Fried Chicken & Pizza. Coming Soon!"
Not much could be found out online about Royal Fried Chicken & Pizza, other than the fact that it apparently is not a chain. One establishment by that name, showing the same logo as on the Enfield banner, is located in Central Falls, R.I., just north of Pawtucket.

Online reviewers had generally positive things to say about Angelo's over the years, mainly praise for its tasty sauce, non-salty cheese and friendly staff.
Patch was unable to reach the owners of Angelo's seeking comment about the closure.

Prior to Angelo's, the small southern end of the building had been occupied by the Back Yard BBQ, which moved in 2011 to the former Friendly's on Route 5 near the Longmeadow border. It has long since closed, and is currently home to the Keltic Table & Tap.
