  1. Tickets for the popular North Pole Express have gone on sale. Get them while you can because they always sell out fast. Tickets for full and partial cars are on sale now. Individual tickets will go on sale Thursday at 9 a.m., online only at essexsteamtrain.com. According to NBC Connecticut, "due to the high demand for full cars, partial cars and individual tickets, cars and tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. [Organizers] strongly recommend setting up a Shopify account prior to ticket sales to ensure a smoother and faster transaction. Tickets are not held in your cart exclusively. Others buyers may be attempting to purchase the same tickets at the same time and the tickets will go to the first customer to complete the transaction." Good luck getting tickets, hope to see you on the train to celebrate the holiday season! (NBC Connecticut)
  2. The town of Deep River is making a time capsule that will be buried for a century. The announcement of the capsule will happen as part of this year's Deep River 75th anniversary celebration happening Saturday, September 17. According to a Zip06 article, "the dedication of the new capsule is part of the town-wide celebrations for Deep River Day. Following the anniversary parade, the time capsule will be officially announced with a speech at Town Hall at 3:40 p.m. The time capsule will be buried on Memorial Day in 2023 under the Eagle War Memorial at the Town Green, and will remain [in] the ground for the next 100 years. It will replace another century-old capsule that was placed under the memorial, and is to be unearthed the same day. The idea for the time capsule began with the formation of a committee started earlier this year by First Selectman Angus McDonald."(Zip06.com)
  3. Is Connecticut becoming the next destination state for casino lovers? According to Live 95.9, "recently, USA Today conducted its annual 10 Best Reader's Choice Awards survey, and one of the questions was to name the best casino in the country outside of Las Vegas. And you know what? The number one response happens to be right here in New England, located in Mashantucket, Connecticut. That's right. Foxwoods Resort Casino! Mohegan was No. 5 on the 10 Best Reader's Choice list." (Live 95.9)
