Deep River Woman Charged With 55 Counts Of Animal Cruelty: Reports
A woman is facing numerous charges for keeping dogs in unsanitary conditions, according to reports.

DEEP RIVER, CT — A woman is facing 55 animal cruelty charges following a lengthy police investigation in Deep River, WTNH News-8 reported.
Concerns began in April after animal control received calls about barking dogs. Animal control officers attempted to make kennel checks at the home on Bushy Hill Road multiple times between September and January, but the homeowner refused to allow officers into the home.
On Jan. 3, a veterinary hospital contacted animal control reporting that one of the dogs living at the home died due to severe medical conditions, according to WTNH News-8.

Police and animal control served a search warrant on the home Jan. 10. They found unsanitary conditions as well as inadequate food and water for the dogs.
Police and other officials seized 43 dogs, 3 hens, and 1 rooster from the home Thursday, FOX 61 reported.

The seized animals were medically evaluated, then taken to animal control facilities across the state.
The homeowner reportedly had three kennel licenses that allowed her to keep up to 30 dogs.
