Don't Let Your Car Become A Statistic!
Tri-town residents are reminded to lock their cars at night and take valuables and personal belongings out of their cars every night!
CHESTER, CT — A friendly reminder from the Resident Trooper Office and Town Officers of Chester to please lock your vehicles and remove personal belongings when your vehicle is not in use.
This year alone has seen a 40% increase statewide in stolen motor vehicles and or the removal of personal belongings from them. These crimes are happening by perpetrators gaining access to unlocked vehicles with the keys left inside and their belongings left therein. With the cold season fast approaching, perpetrators will especially target vehicles left running and warming in the morning time prior to people leaving for work. These crimes are not just happening during the overnight hours, but rather at all hours of the day and night.
We strongly encourage and request that you help prevent these incidents by removing your keys and belongings and locking your vehicles. Thank you for helping us keep the residents of Chester safe and secure.
