"LAND USE CLERK & ASSESSOR CLERK
Land Use Clerk:
The Town of Chester is accepting applications and letters of interest for the part-time position of Land Use Clerk. Applicants must submit their application and letter of interest describing their training and qualifications to the Office of the First Selectman by 3:00 pm September 30, 2021. This is a maximum 10 hours per week position with no paid benefits.
This is responsible clerical work involving the performance of various administrative and general office duties for the Building Official, Wetlands Officer and Zoning Enforcement Officer.
ASSESSOR's CLERK:
The Town of Chester is accepting applications and letters of interest for the part-time position of Assessor’s Clerk. Applicants must submit their application and letter of interest describing their training and qualifications to the Office of the First Selectman by 3:00 pm, September 30, 2021. This is a maximum 12 hours per week position with no paid benefits.
Works under the general supervision of the Assessor, providing administrative assistance to evaluate all real estate, personal property and motor vehicles within the town for the purpose of taxation. Also in charge of the office in the absence of the Assessor.

ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
The Town of Chester is currently accepting applications for the Special Statutory Appointment position of Animal Control Officer. The annual fee paid by the Town to the Animal Control Officer will range from a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $12,000. This position is not eligible for benefits under the current Town policy.
The hours of coverage necessary are a rotating schedule with the Assistant Animal Control Officer in order to provide 24/7 coverage.
Position Definition: Appointed by the First Selectman under State Statute 22-331. Performs patrol and enforcement duties in an animal control program; enforces Town regulations, Connecticut State Dog Statutes, Connecticut State Animal Laws, the control of rabies in domestic animals, and manages the animal control shelter to include animal care and maintaining a duty log, and responsible for completing and submitting all mandated reports to the State of Connecticut.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the field of animal control or commercial management of domestic animals or law enforcement involving animals.
Special Requirements: Connecticut law requires all animal control officers to receive mandatory training and will be required to receive a minimum of eighty hours of field related training. New officers will have up to one year to receive this training. Existing officers are required a minimum of six hours of continuing education related to their job duties as animal control officer each calendar year.
Character Requirements: In the addition to the drug & alcohol screening and pre-placement physical exam, the checking of references or facts stated in the application and a thorough background investigation of each candidate may be made before persons are certified for permanent appointment.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to considerable danger of injury from animal bites, exposure to rabid animals and to disagreeable and potentially dangerous conditions in dealing with animals and animal owners in the course of issuing search and seizure and arrest warrants.
