- If you live in the Tri-town area and are wondering when all the work on Main Street and Warsaw Street will be completed, here are some answers: the Connecticut Department of Transportation started paving Main Street/Warsaw Street in Essex and Deep River on Tuesday and the paving is scheduled to be completed by September 27.
According to DOT, motorists can expect lane closures to occur from Route 154 in Essex to Route 80 in Deep River. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. So please hang on, the work is almost complete and the bonus is that in the end, the roads will be so nice and smooth! (Town of Essex – Government via Facebook) - This year's Essex Board of Trade Annual Scarecrow Contest theme is, “Hocus Pocus," inspired by the 1993 film of the same name. Last year's theme was the Wizard of Oz. Those who wish to create a scarecrow to adorn a lampost in downtown Essex and be part of the FestiFall are being asked to drop off their scarecrows at the Essex Library, J. Alden's or Coldwell Banker, no later than September 30. Scarecrows do need to be based on the theme. The winner of the contest will be announced on Halloween night over social media, on the Instagram page @experienceessex and the BOT’s Facebook page. (Zip06.com)
- According to a recent Facebook post on the Ivoryton Playhouse's page, "it is no longer necessary to present evidence of vaccination prior to admittance into the Ivoryton Playhouse. Masks are not required, but are encouraged. The Playhouse will consider any future guidance from the CDC and the State of Connecticut to determine if changes to our Covid protocol are neccessary." Hope to see you at a show sometime soon!(Ivoryton Playhouse)
