Teen Kills Family Member At Essex Home: Police
The 18-year-old repeatedly stabbed a relative, intervening in a physical dispute between the victim and another person, police said.

ESSEX, CT — An 18-year-old is charged after he fatally stabbed a relative in an Essex home, according to police.
Matthew Craig, of Ivoryton, is charged with first-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a child, police said.
Craig called 911 around 1 a.m. Saturday and said he had stabbed a family member several times, according to police. Authorities found the victim lying on the floor with multiple apparent stab wounds to the chest and back, police said, adding the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim had been involved in a physical dispute with another person when Craig intervened, according to police, who said there was a child in the home at the time.
Craig was taken to the Hartford Correctional Center, held on $250,000 bond and will be arraigned Monday in Middletown, police said.
