Update: Man Found Dead In Cockaponset State Forest Tuesday

The Pattaconk Recreation area of Cockaponset State Forest was shut down Tuesday due to a police investigation.

CHESTER, CT — A man was found dead in the Pattaconk Recreation area of the 16,000 acre Cockaponset State Forest in Chester, Tuesday.

According to a News 8 WTNH report, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, EnCon Police, State Police and the Chester Fire Department responded to the report of an unresponsive man in the State Forest. The area was shut down to the public as the investigation ensued Tuesday afternoon.

The man's identity has not been released and the investigation is ongoing. An autopsy will be conducted by the office of the Cheif State Medical Examiner.
