  1. Ever wonder why is it so hard to meet friends as an adult? Well, to lend a helping hand in that department, The Hive Chester is holding a very special, "Mom Speed Friending Event" on Wednesday, October 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. Visit Chester wrote this post on its Facebook page about the event, "You’ve heard of speed dating or speed networking, why not speed friending? Let’s get together, have some fun and possibly meet a new friend or two. Don’t worry we have a plan to make it less awkward! Come enjoy some laughs, tasty treats and beverages. Tickets are $15. Link in Bio to register!" (Visit Chester CT via Facebook)
  2. According to the Town of Essex website, "The Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Government (RiverCOG) is hosting two upcoming public workshops for the creation of the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). RiverCOG will be sharing what they have learned so far about current economic conditions in the region and offers activities for participation and input. What they hear from the public will help shape the direction of economic development in the region. Public input is vital to the planning process and they want to hear from as many people as they can. There will be two opportunities to join them. Please stop in any time between 3:00 – 6:00 pm on the following dates: Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Middletown City Hall, 245 deKoven Dr., in the Council Chambers or Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Old Saybrook Town Hall, 302 Main St., in the first-floor conference room." 3. Do you have questions about electric vehicles? Why not attend the 4th annual Old Saybrook National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) event at Saybrook Point Pavilion, 155 College Street, Old Saybrook, on Sunday, October 2 from 12 to 3 p.m.? According to the press release, "The event will include experienced electric vehicle (EV) owners who will show off their cars and share how they drive and charge their EVs. In addition, although new EVs are in limited supply, because of demand, dealers will showcase some of the latest EV models offering test drives and rides. Attendees will receive handouts about the newest EV models and charging systems as well as up-to-date information about Connecticut state rebates and federal tax credits. National Drive Electric Week events are held nationwide to raise awareness of the benefits of driving all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
