2 Injured When Tree Crushes Vehicle On Merritt Parkway In Fairfield
High winds on Friday snapped the tree between exits 46 and 44 southbound.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Two people were injured Friday when a fallen tree smashed into the vehicle they were riding in southbound on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield, according to Fairfield fire officials.
High winds snapped the pine tree at its base between 46 and 44.
"Luckily, both the occupant and driver only had minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals," fire officials posted on Facebook.

The vehicle, which flipped over on its side from the impact, was operated by an Uber driver with a passenger inside, reported the Connecticut Post. Drivers from other vehicles reportedly helped to clear the road.
