Boy Scout Troop 82 Place American Flags On Soldier Graves
Troop 82 partnered with the local veterans group at St. Thomas cemetery to place American flags on the graves of fallen soldiers.
From Boy Scout Troop 82: Leading up to this Memorial Day weekend, Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 82 joined a local veterans group at St. Thomas Cemetery in placing fresh American flags on the graves of those who had service in the armed forces.
“The purpose of Memorial Day is not to have picnics, miss a day from school and watch a parade,” noted Troop 82 Scoutmaster Bryan LeClerc. “It is to honor those men and women who gave their lives for our country while serving in the military. We owe these heroes our respect and honor. Thanks to them, we live in freedom today.”
In addition to flag placement, Troop 82 will have the honor of being the Scout representatives at Saturday mornings Sea Ceremony at the South Benson Marina. The event will begin at 9:30AM with Troop 82 performing the Flag Raising Ceremony at the entrance to the marina complex on Turney Road. Following the Flag Ceremony, Troop 82 will join the dock side Sea Memorial hosted by Port Five Naval Veterans.
