Cops: $15K Stolen from York Road Home in Fairfield

Several burglaries, thefts, and car break-ins were reported in the past week in Fairfield.

A York Road resident reported his home had been burglarized sometime Sunday afternoon or evening. Officers determined entry was made through a back door, which was missing a single Plexiglass windowpane. The master bedroom was ransacked and jewelry stolen, as well as $15,000 from a safe. Investigators believe the key to the safe was taken from a dresser in one of the home's bedrooms.

A bicycle was stolen from the Fairfield Metro train station sometime between 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 27 and 8 p.m. on Friday, June 28. The bike -- a Hardtail Diamondback hybrid valued at $300 -- was locked to a bike rack, but the complainant found the lock pulled apart and discarded in nearby bushes.

A woman who parked her Mercedes SUV in the parking lot of BJ's reported to police on Friday that the front passenger window was smashed while she was inside the store. Stolen were $200 worth of gardening tools and a bag containing clothing and diamond earrings. The contents of the bag totaled $4,000.

A Crestwood Road resident reported to police on Monday that his home had been burglarized sometime between Thursday and Saturday. Entry was gained through an unlocked garage bay door and an unlocked an interior door, according to police. The complainant reported $7,000 in jewelry missing from the home.

A $500 guitar was reported stolen by a complainant who parked in the lot at Planet Fitness on Monday. The suspect smashed out a window on the vehicle sometime Monday morning and stole the Fender Stratocaster guitar, which was later located at a pawnshop in Bridgeport. Police are investigating.
