Fairfield Arts Commission To Launch Town-Wide Innovative Art Challenge

The commission is first hosting a naming contest for the upcoming challenge, which will be for Fairfield artists, ages 11-18.

Information from the Fairfield Arts Commission:

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Arts Commission is excited to announce plans to sponsor later this year a town-wide Innovative Art Challenge aimed at inspiring creativity among our Town’s young artists, ages 11-18...but first we need a proper name. So, the Commission is having a Naming Contest!

The Innovative Art Challenge is envisioned as a juried art competition aimed at encouraging young and aspiring artists to create art in new and unique ways. Artists will need to interpret and incorporate a theme, chosen annually, through a change to an existing art form to showcase their
ingenuity, originality and critical thinking. More details about the Challenge are expected to be announced later this year.

The Commission is seeking the public’s help in creating a fun name that reflects the overall objective of the innovative art challenge. The naming contest will run through October 11, 2024 and is open to all persons of all ages. The winner will be announced following the Commission meeting in October, and will receive a $50 Fairfield Community e-gift card.

“We believe that engaging and encouraging our young people in the arts is essential for fostering creativity and community spirit,” said Commission Chair Charlie MacDonald. “We hope that the Art Challenge will inspire young artists and provide them an outlet for their creative expression.”
