Fairfield Motorists Advised: Temporary Rolling Roadblocks This Weekend

The rolling roadblocks, due to the demolition of the former coal plant in Bridgeport, could impact some traffic in Fairfield and the area.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Motorists in Fairfield, Bridgeport and the surrounding area are being advised that temporary rolling roadblocks will occur during the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 28, as the as former coal plant in Bridgeport is demolished.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation says the rolling roadblocks will take place on Route 8 southbound at Exit 1C and 1A; on I-95 northbound at Exits 27 and 28; and on I-95 southbound at Exits 29 and 27 on Sunday.

According to officials, the temporary rolling roadblocks are expected from 4 a.m. to 4:15 a.m.

"Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions," officials said in a statement. "Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area."
