Fairfield Public Schools Recognized For Excellence In Music Education

This is the fifth consecutive year the district has received the recognition.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Public Schools has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, recognizing the district’s commitment to providing comprehensive music instruction and access to students at all grade levels. This is the fifth consecutive year the district has received the recognition.

The annual designation is awarded to school districts across the United States that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music education to all students. The application process includes a review of funding, participation, curriculum, and community engagement, with data verified by school administrators and evaluated by the arts research firm WolfBrown.

Fairfield’s music program spans elementary through high school and includes ensembles such as band, orchestra and chorus. Many students have been selected for regional and state honors ensembles. This year, middle school students participated in Articulation Tours, visiting elementary schools to perform and speak with younger students about musical opportunities. High school choral students took part in a clinic with Chanticleer, a Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble, while elementary string students collaborated with composer Chris Bernotas to premiere an original piece, Flight of the Phoenix.
