Fairfield Resident Stars in Theater Production
Carrie Ferrante plays the lead role in John van Druten's romantic comedy 'Bell, Book and Candle'. Read on for show details.

From the Town of Fairfield: The Orange, CT Players presentation of John van Druten’s Bell, Book and Candle, directed by Kevin Miller, has cast Fairfield resident Carrie Ferrante in the lead role of Gillian Holroyd. Set in the late 1950s in New York City, this romantic comedy centers around Holroyd, a modern day witch who casts a spell over an unattached publisher, Shep Henderson (Jonathan Cohen), and is supported by her warlock brother Nicky (Nazarene Belbusti), her Auntie (Patt Brotschul) and friend Sydney (Charles Mertis). Complications arise when Gillian breaks with tradition by falling in love with a “normal” and must choose between her desire for human love and her companions in witchery. After a Brodway run, van Druten’s play was later made into a Hollywood film starring Kim Novak, James Stewart, and Jack Lemmon.
Ms. Ferrante is a 2008 graduate of Fairfield Warde HS, where she had the lead role in Pride and Prejudice, wrote and directed her own play, The Scale, and was the student director of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet under the tutelage of Mr. Mark Frattaroli. She is also a screenwriter/director whose films Super Heroes and Us & Them have won numerous awards in recent independent festivals.
Bell, Book and Candle will be performed on April 21, 22, 28, and 29 at 8:00PM (doors open at 7:15PM) at the High Plains Community Center, Orange, CT. Tickets are $20 with cabaret seating, and patrons may bring their own light beverages/food. For tickets call (475)227-7547 or order online at www.OrangePlayers.net.
