The Fairfield Warde High School football team continued a well-established tradition last month in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This year, the team raised a total of $800 for the third annual "A Crucial Catch" campaign to help raise awareness about the importance of early cancer screening to save lives.
The main fundraising event, sponsored by the Fairfield Warde Gridiron Club's Mustangs Care Committee, was held at the varsity team's Oct. 18 home game. vs. Wilton. During halftime, the freshman players "passed the helmet" to collect donations from both the Fairfield and Wilton fans.
