Here are five things to know about Fairfield for Tuesday, May 21:
1. The weather. There's a slight chance of showers in the morning Tuesday, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 12 p.m. Expect patchy fog before 9 a.m. Temperatures are forecast to reach 73 degrees.
2. The Board of Education. The school board meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss, among other things, Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Title's proposed adjustments to the school budget, which include "pay to play" and the elimination the district's gifted program (find a complete list of proposals here). The board meets in the second-floor conference room at 501 Kings Highway East.
3. Your commute. Keep the link to the Department of Transportation's traffic cameras handy as train service remains disrupted on the Metro-North New Haven Line.
4. Best-selling Author Visits the library. Best-selling author Douglas Kennedy will discuss his new book "Five Days" at a lunchtime event at the Fairfield Public Library.
5. Alternative workspace available in Fairfield County. Regus is opening up its lounges this week as spaces for commuters to work from, rather than commuting or working from home. Details here.
