Gas Line Breaks at Ludlowe Center for Health & Rehabilitation

A broken gas line caused a leak at Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation around 3 p.m. Monday.

Southern Connecticut Gas Company has shut off the line as firefighters work to ventilate the building. Some patients were relocated to another area of the center -- away from the broken line -- as a precaution, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tracy said.

The gas line was reportedly ruptured by construction crews.

The intersection of Jefferson Street and Park Avenue is closed to traffic while emergency personnel remain on scene to investigate the broken line.
