Letter: 'Place Your Vote' for Dorene Herron at GOP Caucus

Resident Steven Baker asks registered Republicans to cast their ballots to secure a nomination for Dorene Herron for the upcoming municipal elections.

My name is Steven Baker and I am writing in support of Dorene Herron for a seat on the Board of Education. There is an upcoming Republican caucus where voters can choose which candidate(s) they want for this important position. I encourage all registered Republicans to come out and vote for Dorene on Tuesday, July 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

I know Dorene as a fellow parent and board member of the Roger Sherman Elementary School PTA. I came to know Dorene when she was president of the PTA and I followed her in that position two years later. Her dedication as president and a volunteer inspired me to become a more active participant in our children’s school life and our fine community.

As PTA president, Dorene was responsible for revising our bylaws and developing an in-depth month-to-month checklist for all proceedings that is invaluable to help keep on top of all the committees and deadlines. Her pragmatic style and vision have left a legacy of guidelines that have produced a conflict-free environment that is the envy of most PTA’s, no easy feat.

It is this style and vision that have earned her the trust of those who are her neighbors, friends, colleagues and those who have had the pleasure of volunteering in town or on a committee with her. It is the trust that comes from knowing that Dorene works without judgment or an agenda that I support her. It is why so many in our community count on her to be their eyes and ears at so many town meetings when we fall short of our civic responsibilities.

Many who read this are aware of her contributions and the time she has put into building relationships with town officials on of our behalf. It is because of her dedication, work ethic, and courage of conviction, as well as the trust our community has in her, that I ask you to place your vote in the July 23 caucus to have Dorene Herron represent you on the November ballot for a position on the Board of Education.
