Millions Of Dollars In Cuts Sought For Fairfield Public Schools
Several cuts are reportedly being considered for the upcoming fiscal year.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Public Schools is looking for ways to slash about $2 million from its 2025-26 budget before the fiscal year takes effect on July 1.
The cuts are necessary after the Representative Town Meeting adopted an overall operating budget of $383,922,025 for both the town and school system. The final amount meant the Board of Education would come up short of its requested budget of $234,923,226; the district is slated to receive $233,040,387 for the fiscal year, a difference of $1,882,839.
Among the possible areas of savings recently presented by Schools Superintendent Michael Testani include reduced bus service and fewer substitute teachers, the Connecticut Post reported.
