Police: Dunkin' Donuts Employee Pocketed $3K

A 39-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested Tuesday morning on allegations that he stole about $3,000 from a cash register while working at a Dunkin' Donuts in Fairfield.

The money was stolen over a period of about six months in increments that were between $40 and $50, police said.

Dunkin' Donuts representatives contacted Fairfield Police in early February about the suspected theft of money from the location inside the Cumberland Farms on Kings Highway. Police said the investigation revealed that an employee, Jose Rivera, was pocketing cash and attempting to hide it by deleting transactions.

Rivera, who police said has a previous criminal record, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant charging him with third-degree larceny.

His bond was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
