Police: Shoplifter Fled on Bike With Assorted Snacks

Man allegedly stole items from Stop & Shop in Fairfield.

Police charged a homeless man with larceny this weekend after he attempted to steal an assortment of sweets and flee the scene on a bicycle. 

Mandell Dwayne-Givens, 31, was charged with sixth-degree larceny on Oct. 19 at approximately 9:01 p.m. for allegedly shoplifting at Stop & Shop, 760 Villa Ave., Fairfield.

According to police, Dwayne-Givens concealed several items and left the store with two bags filled with Ring Dings, Yodels and cookies that were not paid for. He attempted to flee the scene on a bicycle but was apprehended by police a short time later on Kings Highway.

Dwayne-Givens received a bond of $500 and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
