Victim Identified In Fatal Fairfield Moped Crash: Police

The victim was struck by a vehicle on Saturday night.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 25-year-old Bridgeport man has been identified as the victim in a fatal moped crash Saturday night in Fairfield, according to police.

Juan Otilio Tista Tista was operating a moped on Post Road when the crash occurred near South Benson Road. The crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m., and Tista Tista was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

"We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Tista Tista’s family and loved ones during this difficult time," said Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington.

The driver of the vehicle that struck him fled the scene after the crash, but was later found. That individual's identity has not yet been released.

"At this time, the crash remains under investigation," Wellington said. "We are working closely with the State’s Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to ensure a thorough and accurate review of the incident."
