Winners Announced In Fairfield Safe Streets Alliance Bike Raffles

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Safe Streets Alliance (FSSA) held its long-awaited raffle this week for two brand new bicycles, donated by Trek Bike Store Fairfield and Cycle Dynamics. The raffle was part of the Alliance’s continuing efforts to promote safe, healthy, and courteous transportation in Fairfield. The winners of the drawing are Alysia Welcome, who won a child’s bike donated by Trek Bicycles, and Steven Patrick, who won an adult bike donated by Cycle Dynamics.

“Congratulations to our winners! We are thrilled to see so many community members participating and supporting our mission,” said First Selectman Christine Vitale. “Biking is a great way to get around Town, and every new rider helps reduce the number of cars on the road. The goal of the Safe Streets Alliance campaign is to change our attitudes, our behavior, and our culture around the way we drive, walk, and cycle in Fairfield, making Town safer for everyone.”

The Fairfield Safe Streets Alliance thanks Jason Ingargiola, store manager of Trek Bicycle Store Fairfield, and Charlie Gander, owner of Cycle Dynamics in Westport, for their generous support and commitment to community safety, as well as all the residents who entered the drawing and took the Safe Streets Pledge. The Safe Streets Pledge is a promise to drive the speed limit paying careful attention to bicyclists and pedestrians and watch out for each other on the roads as neighbors and friends.

About the Fairfield Safe Streets Alliance

The Fairfield Safe Streets Alliance is a Town of Fairfield coalition that includes representatives from the Police and Fire Departments, the Health Department, Fairfield Public Schools, Fairfield Public Library, the First Selectman’s Office, and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, all working together to encourage safer use of Fairfield roadways. The Alliance’s goal is keeping Fairfield roads safe for all residents, whether they’re driving, biking, walking, or riding a scooter. The “Road Safety Starts With You” campaign is intended to raise awareness, educate the public about driver, bicyclist and pedestrian rules, and promote slower, safer, friendlier streets.
