Young E-Scooter Rider Injured In Fairfield Crash: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — A juvenile e-scooter rider suffered suspected minor injuries Monday morning during a collision with a vehicle on Mill Plain Road in Fairfield, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 9 a.m., and the juvenile was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
"The juvenile, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling on the left side of the road, then turned onto a side street when they drove into a vehicle," Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington told Patch in a statement.

Due to the age of the juvenile, a citation was not issued, Wellington said, adding that the driver of the vehicle "remained on scene and cooperated fully with the investigation."
Wellington said that the fact that the rider was wearing a helmet was important, and that families should discuss safety when it comes to the use of such motorized equipment.
