Alleged Drunk School Bus Driver Appears in Court

The Farmington woman was driving 20 children to school when she was arrested.

A Farmington bus driver arrested for drunk driving while operating a school bus with 20 children aboard faced a judge Tuesday.

The driver, 44-year-old Tammy Costello, has been charged with driving under the influence and 20 counts of risk of injury to a minor, WTNH reports. She is due back in court Sept. 30.

Costello has been suspended from her position with M&J Bus Incorporated. When asked what she will do until her reappearance in court, her response to reporters was, “My attorney will decide that.”

Costello was arrested on Aug. 27 after a police officer driving behind the bus saw it swerve and run over several curbs. She failed multiple field sobriety tests and blew over a .31 blood alcohol level at the Farmington Police Department.
