Black Friday At Westfarms, What You Need To Know

FARMINGTON/WEST HARTFORD, CT — One of the area's biggest shopping destinations is preparing for the biggest day of the holiday shopping season.

"Black Friday, the unofficial kick-off to the holiday shopping season, starts with extended holiday shopping hours to begin the festive retail season," wrote officials at the Westfarms Mall, which is located in Farmington and West Hartford (GPS address is 1500 New Britain Ave., West Hartford).

Westfarms will open at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

"The festive weekend of shopping will feature exclusive retailer sales and special promotions," wrote the mall.

But while Westfarms itself will officially open at that time, some of the mall's anchor stores will open much earlier.

In fact, a "handful of stores" will open beyond mall-wide hours on Black Friday and have earlier morning openings and late closings.

Those include:

• Macy’s – Friday 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• JCPenney – Friday 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Nordstrom – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Jordan’s Furniture – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Mall officials said additional store hours may vary for select interior mall stores as well, starting at 6 a.m.

“We are seeing Black Friday deals well in advance of what used to be a one-day shopping event,” said Elizabeth Ryan, Westfarms general manager. “Stores are eager to capture sales before Black Friday by offering special sales and promotions early in the season. We are expecting to see these types of holiday savings expand into December at our retailers.”
