A Connecticut man was attacked and killed by a homeless man at a Florida McDonald’s on Monday night, WPTV reports.
Kevin Adorno, 28, of Unionville was undertaking a bucket list bicycling trip down the east coast when he stopped by the fast food restaurant. He was on the phone with his girlfriend when Rene Herrera Cruz, 59, allegedly stabbed him multiple times with a knife.

Officials received a 911 call around 9:30 p.m. and responded to the scene. Police said Adorno was attacked in the parking lot, and they found him lying inside near the bathroom. He was transported to Indian River Medical Center and died shortly after.
“It was evident from the amount of blood that he had been stabbed several times in the chest and arm,” the Vero Beach Police Department released in a statement.

Witnesses said the Cruz ran across U.S. Route 1 toward a Burger King, where police found and arrested him. Police said he admitted to the stabbing and attacked because he thought Adorno was “directing other people via cellphone to attack him,” according to WPTV.
Adorno was reportedly en route to Miami, where he was planning to propose to his girlfriend.
Cruz has been charged with first-degree murder.
