Decorated Doors Sought In Farmington Garden Club Contest

FARMINGTON, CT — For the Farmington Garden Club, the front door is not just a functional component of the home allowing for ingress and egress.

It's a canvas unto itself, a place to showcase the art of exterior decoration using flora and fauna as the paint.

Starting June 1, the Farmington Garden Club is hosting itsfirst annual Door Decorating Contest, called “Doors in Bloom.”

The contest is open to all Farmington and Unionville residents from June 1 through June 14.

Residents are invited to decorate their doorway and submit a picture to the club that will be posted on its website, www.farmingtongardenclub.org.

"Join in the fun, show off, and see if you can be the best on your block as we make our town something to talk about," wrote the club in an announcement.

Doors will be judged on uniqueness, craftsmanship, and originality.

Winners will be competing for first-, second-, and third-place prizes, along with an honorable mention prize.

Judging will be done by three local master gardeners and the winners will be announced on the club’s webpage on June 21.

Participants can submit an entry using the online forms on the club website.

Alternatively, a fillable PDF can be found on the website and participants can either email the filled PDF to farmingtonct.gc@gmail. com or you may print it out and mail it to Treasurer, Sherry Perrie, 8 Brightview Drive, Unionville, CT 06085.

The entry fee is $10.

Participants can either mail a check to the FGC treasurer, made payable to the
Farmington Garden Club, or submit payment print it, and mail it along with an entry fee of
$10 made payable to FGC and mailed to Sherry Perrie. 8 Brightview Drive, Unionville,
06085, or by using Venmo at FGCDoors.
