Extreme Heat Alert Issued In Farmington, Shelters Are Open

With a major heat wave expected to strike Sunday, June 22, Farmington officials have announced their extreme heat protocols.

FARMINGTON, CT — Local officials have enacted severe hot weather protocols, which started Sunday, June 22, as the area is expected to experience its first major heat wave of 2025.

According to the Town of Farmington, those protocols will continue through Wednesday, June 25, at 8 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to be well into the 90s and, even, approach 100 some days, with heat indexes making it feel much hotter.

According to the Farmington Police Department, there are places in town to cool off. They include:

• The Farmington Public Library, 6 Monteith Drive, which is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• The Barney Library, 71 Main St., which is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• The Farmington Senior Center, 321 New Britain Ave., Unionville, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
