Farmington Manufacturer Earns State Innovation Grant
The state program helps small manufacturing firms enhance their technology and innovation.
FARMINGTON, CT — A local manufacturer recently received grant funding to help it expand its technology and improve company innovation.
Gov. Ned Lamont said last month his administration is awarding state grantsof $100,000 each to six Connecticut manufacturers, including Farmington-based Mott Corp., which is located at 75 Spring Lane.
Mott was one of six companies in Connecticut to receive the grant funding.

Those funds will be used to support the companies in adopting "additive technologies that improve operations and drive innovation," such as high-end 3D metal printers for functional parts and tooling and advanced plastic printing capabilities, wrote Lamont's office.
Mott specializes in "filters and fluid flow products," with its wares being utilized in the manufacturing processes of several large companies.

Its clients include such well-known entities as NASA, Samsung, the U.S. Navy, General Electric and Proctor & Gamble, among other firms, according to Mott's website.
Mott last year began a factory expansion to build components to assist firms specializing in green hydrogen manufacturing, considered a source of clean energy.
These competitive grants are awarded from the Additive Manufacturing Adoption Program (AMAP), an initiative conceived by the Connecticut Manufacturing Innovation Fund Advisory Board and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT).
The initiative is part of the state’s Manufacturing Innovation Fund, which is administered by the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
It was established to support the growth, innovation, and progress of the state’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The program is open to manufacturing companies with fewer than 300 employees.
Manufacturers interested in seeking grants under this round were required to submit applications between Jan. 1 and Feb. 29.
“Manufacturing continues to be a high-growth sector nationwide and we want to do everything we can to ensure that Connecticut is at the forefront of the jobs and economic growth that it is delivering,” Lamont said. “This grant program is a way that we can partner with small manufacturers in our state to support their growth.”
