Farmington Opens Warming Center Amid Cold Snap

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont on Monday put the state on cold-weather protocols through Thursday, Jan. 9.

FARMINGTON, CT — Due to dangerously low temperatures, the state’s severe cold weather protocol has been in effect since Monday, with Farmington officials opening a warming center in response.

The protocols will remain in effect through noon on Thursday, Jan. 9.

The Farmington Community Center, located at 321 New Britain Ave., Unionville, will be available to residents seeking shelter.

The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 10 p.m.

The warming shelter can be opened by calling the routine number at Farmington Police Department at 860-675-2400.

Those who are or know someone who is homeless and in urgent need of shelter should dial 2-1-1 for emergency support and connection to a shelter (available 24/7).
