Farmington PD Involved In New Britain Case Where 12-Year-Old Girl's Body Was Found

FARMINGTON, CT — Local police have confirmed their involvement in the investigation of the death of a 12-year-old girl in New Britain whose body was found last week.
Her body was found in a container at an abandoned property in New Britain last Wednesday, New Britain police said.
Police have not officially released the identity of the victim, but it has been widely reported to be 12-year-old Jacqueline Torres.

WFSB Channel 3 has reported that the girl's mother was taken into police custody at the time of the discovery, but no arrests have yet been made.
Meanwhile, it's been reported that additional law enforcement agencies are involved, with the Farmington Police Department confirming its involvement but offering few details.

"In response to the many media inquiries, I want to confirm that The Farmington Police Department is working in collaboration with the New Britain Police Department, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the Office of the State’s Attorney, and Connecticut State Police in the active investigation into remains found in the City of New Britain," wrote the FPD in a statement Friday.
"Due to the ongoing investigation and the sensitive nature of the case, we are unable to provide any further comment at this time."
