Large Farmington Employer Laying Off Workers Prior To Christmas
The national company, which has a plant in Farmington, is citing a downturn in business.
FARMINGTON, CT — A Farmington commercial laundry facility that serves the medical industry announced last week it will be laying off several employees by year's end.
According to a notice sent to the Town of Farmington and the state Department of Labor, ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists, a national company with a facility in Farmington, will be laying off approximately 69 workers there.
"Due to a reduction in business volumes, ImageFIRST has determined that a workforce reduction will be necessary at this location," wrote the company in the notice.

The company said the workers targeted for the layoffs will still earn the same pay and benefits, unless they voluntarily resign, retire, or are fired for cause.
Specific positions earmarked for the layoffs include: two custodians; one customer advocate; six delivery advocates; a maintenance supervisor; a maintenance technician; 58 production associates; one production supervisor; and a utility person.
None of the jobs being eliminated are union jobs, according to the company.
ImageFIRST also has a laundry facility in Trumbull.
