Local Contractor Chosen For New Farmington Town Hall Project
A building committee recently awarded a contract to renovate the old 1928 Farmington HS building into a new Farmington Town Hall.

FARMINGTON, CT — With the new Farmington High School building finished and fully operational after an August opening, the sole portion of the old FHS' fate is now decided.
While the town plans to convert the oldest portion of the former FHS into a new Farmington Town Hall, the town's 1928 Building Committee late last month officially hired a local contractor to oversee the job.
The 1928 Building Committee on Oct. 28 unanimously chose KBE Building Corp. out of Farmington to become the general contractor for the project.

Not only is KBE a local contractor, it was also the lowest bidder, with the company coming in with a $12.775 million bid for a project approved at about $16 million by voters last year.
KBE was one of two firms that put in bids for the project.

After the KBE vote, the 1928 Building Committee unanimously voted to authorize Farmington Town Manager Kathleen A. Blonski and the town's professional partnership subcommittee to negotiate and sign a contract for the project.
For years, a new town hall has been discussed in conjunction with the new high school.
In May 2023, voters said "yes" to a $16 million project to take the old "1928" section of the existing FHS and renovate it into a brand new Farmington Town Hall.
Last March, the Farmington Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a special permit application by the town to renovate the "1928 Building" — located at 10 Monteith Drive.
The "1928 Building" is so-named because of the year it was built and it is the only portion of the existing Farmington High School that will still stand once the rest of the site is demolished.
A new $145 million Farmington High School facility near the old school opened in August, paving the way for the old FHS to be a new Farmington Town Hall.
Farmington officials maintain a web page on the town's website dedicated to the 1928 Building renovation.
