Why are you seeking this office?
I am running for re-election as a State Representative to continue to provide the people of Farmington with honest, fair, and responsive representation in the legislature, and to continue to make people's lives better in Connecticut.
What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
Connecticut faces access and affordability challenges in several areas, including housing, food, health care, education, employment, transportation, child care, health insurance, retirement security, etc.
Other critical issues include electricity prices, mental health services, climate change resilience, accessibility for those with disabilities, waste management, etc.
Legislators and residents need to work in a bipartisan fashion to address these challenges.
There have been an alarming number of deaths on Connecticut's roadways. Is there anything from a legislative standpoint that can be done to address that?
The legislature's Transportation and Public Safety Committees has been working for the last several years on this issue and will continue to do so.
I would suggest more vigorous enforcement of driving and speeding laws, as well as a public awareness campaign.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I believe that my years in the legislature have given me the knowledge, experience, and personal relationships necessary to provide effective leadership for Farmington and for Connecticut.
I believe that my record of achievements underscores that point.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
In my tenure in the legislature, we have achieved: balanced budgets, record surpluses, increased municipal aid, decreased legacy debt, record tax cuts, tax relief for seniors, paid family leave, domestic violence protections, gun safety protections, tuition-free college, mental health service expansion, disability rights expansion, voting access expansion, reproductive rights protection and expansion, improved carbon emission standards, improved renewable energy sources, increased redemption and recycling of beverage containers, elimination of single-use plastic bags, etc.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am always available by phone, email, or in person, to listen to your concerns, benefit from your ideas, and offer assistance.
It is truly an honor to represent the residents of Farmington and Unionville in the General Assembly.
